color tinting

color tinting
A method of indicating comparative heights on topographical charts. The colors get progressively darker with increasing heights. Normally, shades of browns are used for heights, and blue shades show depths. Ground features that lie below 500 ft AMSL (above mean sea level) are not colored and appear as white on the chart. A legend for the color tinting used is indicated at the bottom of the chart.
